NCM Presents Insect Mania! at the Launch Zone

Insect-inspired family event features living and preserved bugs, crafts, and elements of Cirque du Soleil’s show, OVO, including special ambient performers during program’s grand finale

If you like Cirque du Soleil’s show “OVO,” you’ll love this hands-on journey into the creepy, crawly world of insects. Unearth the ecosystems where insects live and learn about their complex bodies during NCM’s Insect Mania!

The Launch Zone will present live and preserved insects for families to enjoy. Children can hold and learn about living insects, like hissing cockroaches, crickets, and a real tarantula shed, then find out how each is important to our environment. Are living bugs not for you? Look up close at a collection of bugs preserved in acrylic. Other stations will offer supplies to make creative take-home crafts. Visitors can make fun “buggy headbands,” bug masks, and “get a bug’s eye view of the world” by putting on buggy eyewear. Insect story times will take place throughout the day.

Then, for our final Insect Mania! program on September 11, Cirque du Soleil will bring a colorful duo of ambient performers and an informative promo squad to the Launch Zone to get families excited about Insect Mania! and their latest show! In addition, they will provide an interactive OVO photo exposition with bright, large photos of the performance to help teach kids more about the bugs of OVO and Insect Mania!
