NCM to Present Kid-Created Mural of Thanks to Soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center

The National Children’s Museum (NCM) will present a mural of thanks to service members of the Warrior Transition Brigade at Walter Reed Army Medical Center this holiday season. This Brigade consists of soldiers recovering from injuries obtained in combat.

The mural art was created by children at the 2009 White House Easter Egg Roll, where the Museum provided a variety of themed family activities. At an NCM arts and crafts station, kids hand wrote and drew messages of support and thanks to military men and women on large fabric squares, each representing a letter of the words “Thank You.” The panels were placed together, creating a large hanging wall.

The mural will be displayed during a holiday party for the wounded warriors and their families, and will later be exhibited in various areas of Walter Reed for all patients, staff, and visitors to see.
