NCM Presents The Third Annual Jump Rope Jump OFF!

NCM expands this health and safety event to include local police and firemen featuring live safety demonstrations as well as entertainment and hands-on family friendly activities!

The National Children's Museum will present the third annual Jump Off! at National Harbor this fall with a special focus on health and safety. The afternoon will feature free, outdoor exhibition performances by nationally renowned Double Dutch jump rope teams along with numerous family friendly activities. Highlights include:

• Stellar performances and workshops by Jump Off! veterans the Greenbelt S.I.T.Y. (Sensational, Inspiring, Talented,  Youthful) Stars, Kangaroo Kids, and Youth Sports Jump Rope FX;
• Special guest appearances by Washington Redskins representatives and the Washington Wizard Girls (12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.), who will sign autographs, take pictures, participate in jumping activities, and give a brief performance;
• Performances by rocking student bands from Bach To Rock, as well as special performances by DJs from Beat Refinery.; and
• Make-and-take craft activities at the NCM Launch Zone (while supplies last).

In addition, the Museum will continue to highlight community stars by welcoming local heroes who keep us safe, from the Prince George’s County Police and Fire Departments. The day may feature members of the bomb squad and hazmat teams, a real fire truck and fire boat, an ambulance, technical rescue representatives, command center vehicles, a police car and motorcycle, as well as members of the SWAT team. Activities may include:

• Fire safety talks;
• Blood pressure screenings;
• Tips for Fire Prevention Week, with burning “house” demonstrations, 911 calling simulation, smoke detector giveaways, and more.

The day will also feature regional foods, crafts, fashion, and much more at American Market at National Harbor, as well as discounts from local retailers. CakeLove at National Harbor will offer coupons at the Launch Zone, and give one free chocolate chip cookie to the first 50 kids ages 12 and under who “jump” with their newly made jump rope from the Launch Zone to the bakery and Aromi d'Italia Gelateria & Café will offer a free sampling of cookies and pastries at the Launch Zone (while supplies last).

And, the Grinch, star of ICE! ™ featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the thrilling, chilling, one-of-a-kind holiday attraction returning to Gaylord National Resort this season, will join the fun by making appearances throughout National Harbor and the Launch Zone. Families will also have an opportunity to enter to win free tickets to ICE! at the Launch Zone.

In addition, throughout the afternoon there will be chances for families to win free passes to the 7th Annual Washington, DC Green Festival, held October 23-24 at the Washington Convention Center, where the Museum will present eco-friendly family activities.
