National Children’s Museum to Participate in the Washington, DC Green Festival for the Third Consecutive Year, October 23-24, 2010

Washington, DC (October 6, 2010) – The National Children’s Museum (NCM) joins Green Festival™, the nation’s largest green living event, to present family programming at the 7th Annual Washington, DC Green Festival, held October 23-24 at the Washington Convention Center, for the third consecutive year. The Museum will take part in this annual celebration of sustainability, inviting children to visit the Kids’ Zone to participate in a variety of eco family friendly activities.

Green Festival’s mission is to explore and build successful communities and a healthier environment. Community members enjoy informative, insightful speakers, green shopping, cutting edge eco-innovations, live music, fun and educational family activities, hands-on workshops, organic wine and beer, and local vegetarian cuisine. Ten stages and pavilions give attendees the opportunity to engage with 125 local experts and nationally-renowned authors, actors, leaders, educators, farmers, and visionaries. Keynote speakers include: Ralph Nader, Amy Goodman, Gilberto Gil, Patti Moreno, Reverend Lennox Yearwood, Jr., Dean Baker, Bernardine Dorhn, Bill Ayers, Ibrahim Abdul-Matin, Daniel Pinchbeck, Goumbri, Tracy McQuirter, and many more.

As a Green Festival ally, the Museum will reward families with free tickets to the Festival at various NCM events and programs throughout the month of October. Visit the Museum’s Facebook and Twitter pages or visit the NCM website for updates.
