The following spaces are included in your event rental package:
The Our World
exhibit helps visitors develop a life-long curiosity about the world and cultures that surround them. Featured in Our World
are the My Town
, World Cultures
and Map Zone
areas. In each area of Our World
, your caterer can develop a menu and display food in a unique and imaginative space.
The Museum’s Map Zone serves as an orientation area that gives visitors a perspective to where they are physically located in the world. Included in the Map Zone is a “Pack Your Bag” exhibit with an airport luggage carousel. The Map Zone also contains a large, interactive floor map and large-scale atlases where visitors will be able to discover and appreciate the world’s physical structure, climate and natural resources.
My Town features a pizzeria, fire truck, shipping yard, campaign office and general store, all along Main Street.
The World Cultures area is visually stunning and features a lively marketplace that highlights a specific country; homes and shelters around the world; a kitchen area presenting international foods and ways of cooking; an interactive clothing store with traditional clothing from various cultures; arts and crafts; transportation (including a tuk-tuk that “transports” visitors to different locales); and a language area that illustrates diverse types of writing and an audio activity.
3 & Under
The colorful and playful 3 & Under
gallery prominently highlights Sesame Street characters and themes. This area features “Cookie Monster’s International Yum-Yum Lunch Truck,” a place where your caterer can be especially creative in serving “street food” or the cuisine of your choice.
The National Children’s Museum boasts a black box theatre
that is an ideal space for presentations, lectures, music and theatrical performances, and film screenings. The theatre, which can seat approximately 120 people (depending on seating layout), has professional lighting (spotlights and house) and sound, a 22’ x 13’ stage and an in-ceiling 105”
x 168” wide format screen. Additionally, there is a ceiling-mounted projector, a lectern with a wireless microphone, Blue-ray DVD player and more.
Center for Learning and Innovation
The Center for Learning and Innovation
is the Museum’s space for hands-on programming and community meetings. The Center features three colorful multipurpose rooms that could be used for fun programming or a place to serve food.
